|
Structure The Federation of Dominican Sisters U.S.A. is a non-canonical organization in which each congregation keeps its identity and autonomy. Membership is open to all Dominican congregations. All members of congregations that belong to the Federation may participate in Federation events on the local, regional and national level. The leadership of the Federation is directed by the Federation Representatives and the Coordinating Committee. I. Federation Representatives The Federation congregational representatives are the direct communication links to/from the Congregations to the Federation and assist in the implementation of the mission, goals and objectives of the Federation. Each congregation that joins the Federation has two sister representatives; one sister will be from elected leadership and one from the general membership of the congregation. The Federation representatives assume the duty of care. The duty of care requires that all members act in good faith and fulfill their responsibilities in the best interest of the Federation of Dominican Sisters U.S.A. The Federation representatives meet annually as a body. They elect from among themselves the Coordinating Committee.
II. Federation Coordinating Committee The Coordinating Committee is composed of five persons elected from among the Congregational Representatives. The Coordinating Committee serves as a hub that channels and facilitates the networking of the Federation members, corporate action on behalf of the Federation, and the collaborative sharing of resources among its members. They will seek to call forth from Federation members gifts and resources that will facilitate the work of the Federation, strengthen our common voice on behalf of justice, and enable the Federation to function as economically as possible. The Coordinating Committee shall be guided by the Organizing Document of the Federation. |
